Silence

This original abstract painting on canvas is called Silence. Calming layers of inks overlap and are punctuated with white and grey billowing lines. 
 
Measuring 60cm square this piece will add some tranquility in your room whilst also providing a talking point in your space. Due to its large size it can easily hang on the wall without the need of a frame. 
 
I’m inspired by the natural world and how its uncertainty is similar to what people experience in day to day life; how you can control some things but not everything. This is reflected in the way I paint, allowing the mediums to flow and drip but then removing or altering the layers.
 
This abstract painting, is calming, allowing you a moment of silence and tranquility. The physical act of painting is important in creating a painting. In this one i've painted with inks, acrylics creating layers of translucent colour that flow over the paintings.
 
I've then gently removed layers to reveal what was previously underneath. It creates this gentle movement across the painting and moments of intrigue and texture.

The natural world is a great inspiration in my work. However, the act of painting is as important when creating. I manipulate the materials, sometimes allowing them to move freely and other times directing them into a space; a balance of control between paint and painter. In this painting the feeling of movement is evident. I'm fascinated about how paintings can evoke memories and feelings.
